About PDF to Text
PDF to Text pulls the selectable text content out of a PDF so you can copy, search, or reuse it elsewhere. It reads the document's existing text layer; image-only scans with no embedded text won't produce output, since this tool doesn't perform OCR.
How to use it
- Drop or select a PDF (up to 50MB).
- Click Extract text and watch the progress bar as pages are processed.
- Copy the result or download it as a .txt file.
Common use cases
- Pulling text from a report to quote or edit elsewhere
- Feeding a PDF's content into another tool or document
- Quickly grabbing a paragraph without retyping it
FAQ
Does this work on scanned documents?
Only if the PDF already has a text layer (e.g. it was scanned with OCR applied at creation time). This tool extracts existing text; it does not perform OCR on image-only pages.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes, up to 50MB per PDF.
Can I save the extracted text as a file instead of copying it?
Yes — use the download button to save the result as a .txt file.
